Redcord Suspension Therapy

Restore movement. Rebuild strength. Retrain your body from the inside out.

Redcord is an innovative neuromuscular suspension therapy system designed to improve movement quality, reduce pain, restore functional strength, and enhance athletic performance. At Denise Gerrity Physical Therapy, Redcord is integrated into one-on-one treatment sessions to support neuromuscular re-education in patients with chronic pain, movement dysfunction, or poor motor control—and to optimize training for active individuals and athletes.

Redcord’s foundation is rooted in the Neurac® (Neuromuscular Activation) methodology, which uses a system of slings and body-weight-supported exercises to stimulate deep stabilizing muscles and retrain faulty motor patterns. This system is particularly effective for people who struggle to activate key stabilizers due to injury, compensation, or neurologic impairment.

Unlike traditional exercise methods, Redcord allows patients to perform pain-free movements, even during complex or load-bearing activities, by adjusting the body’s support and challenge level. The result is a safe, highly individualized therapy approach that promotes rapid motor learning, functional restoration, and long-term performance carryover.

What to Expect During a Session

Every session begins with a comprehensive movement and postural assessment to identify dysfunctional patterns and areas of compensation. Your therapist will then guide you through tailored suspended exercises designed to activate underused muscle groups and improve neuromuscular control.

  • Adjustable cords and slings provide full-body support

  • Exercises are modified in real time for comfort and challenge

  • Vibration and tactile input may be used to facilitate muscle recruitment

  • Emphasis is placed on controlled, efficient movement

This approach is especially effective for reactivating stabilizers of the core, hips, shoulders, and spine. Many patients report immediate improvements in stability, movement efficiency, and pain.

Who is a Candidate for Redcord?

Redcord is beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Low back pain
  • Hip and pelvic instability
  • Shoulder dysfunction and impingement
  • Acute and chronic neck pain
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation (spine, hip, shoulder)
  • Neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, multiple sclerosis)
  • Balance and coordination impairments
  • Chronic pain syndromes
  • Sports performance deficits

Because it’s fully adaptable to each person’s level of function, Redcord is appropriate for both acute and chronic conditions, from older adults to elite athletes.
